Mahogany Hammock and Pa-Hay-okee overlook at Everglades National Park

This is going to be our third Everglades contribution and as you can see we really explored this swamp full of wildlife and a great diversity of plants. At the Mahohany Hammock we crossed the swap on bridges and took some pictures of the open grass fields before entering the forest. The mahony trees are well known for its strong and high quality tropical wood but we are sure that this region is protected. Some of the trees had giant brown leaves and also berries.

At the Pa-Hay-okee overlook, you see the endless rivers of grass. It is in these grass rivers or swamp lakes that the famous airboats look for alligators and give visitors a ride of their life. Here we saw many animals and flowers. A little black lizard crossed our path, a white heron and a wood stork. The swap with the white trees looks like these scenery of a scary movie. Luckily we saw a more open area later with a beautiful rainbow.

  7. Wonderful shots of this amazing area! Love the birds, the acres of the grasses, and did you photoshop in that great rainbow?? very nice! Did you do an airboat ride while you were there? Think those walking bridges and paths might give you an even better opportunity for really seeing the wildlife.
