General Impressions of crowded Florence and the Arno River

Florence was founded by Julius Caesar and is just above 2.000 years old. It is the capital of Tuscany known for its wine region. It is not such a big city with almost 400.000 inhabitants but we sometimes think there are more tourists walking around than people who live here. Although it is always crowded, it remains our favourite city of Italy.

Looking at the Tuscan hills, bridges and the Arno River makes you melt, when it is warm enough. Some streets are narrow with tall houses. When the streets are wider, they become narrow because of the crowds.

On the pictures you see the several shots of the Arno River, a coffee bar, a shopping street, historical houses, statues, great facades and a victory arch. Street artists like the one drawing a portrait with chalk on the pavement are rare. We were impressed with his skills.
